CAROLYN KOUK 1962 - 2007 Peacefully, with her family by her side, Carolyn Kouk passed away the morning of October 25, 2007, after a valiant four-year battle with cancer. Carolyn leaves behind to mourn her loving husband Larry; daughter Courtney; stepsons Michael (Kathryne), and Russell (Melissa); granddaughter Madison; parents Ron and Judy Hesford; brother Michael (Perri); nephews, Brett and Tyler; father-in-law Robert Kouk, a host of friends, and many relatives. Carolyn was predeceased by her mother-in-law Rose Kouk, in November 2005. Carolyn was born in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan on January 28, 1962, and grew up in many places around the country including Regina, Edmonton, Peace River, and Terrace, British Columbia. In 1976, she moved with her family to Winnipeg, where she attended Vincent Massey Collegiate High School, graduating in 1980. Immediately after graduation, she began working for the Royal Bank, where her people skills and good head for numbers made her an instant success in her career. She met and married Larry after a whirlwind romance in 1993 and Courtney was born in 1995. Carolyn remained with the Royal Bank until 2004, when she was diagnosed with breast cancer. After bravely undergoing chemotherapy, Carolyn returned to the Royal Bank for one more year, until her cancer returned. Carolyn never lost her kind and generous disposition throughout her illness. She loved to spend time with her family, and especially enjoyed shopping with Courtney. She also enjoyed traveling, taking many trips with family to Hawaii, Cuba, and Montana, along with weekend jaunts to Fargo and Grand Forks. Carolyn was also a gifted artist and she and Courtney spent many wonderful hours doing crafts together. The pieces she leaves behind will be treasured in memory of her. God saw you getting tired When a cure was not to be So He put his arms around you And whispered, Come with Me. And when we saw you sleeping So peaceful, free from pain We could not wish you back To suffer that again. A memorial service will be held Thursday, November 1, 2007, at Transcona Memorial United Church, 209 Yale Avenue West, 2:00 p.m. Light lunch reception to follow in Church Hall. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Carolyn's name to the Oncology ward at the Victoria Hospital. • To have had you in my life... If even for a short while ... Is something that I'll always treasure .... With the memory of your smile..... Until we meet, one day, again.... I'll hold my memories of you near.... So glad, gone now, is all your pain.... 4 long years you persevered.... Inspiring so many with your plight.... Your battle all uphill.... So hard you had to fight.... So brave, Such heart, Such will.... In loving memory of our Carolyn.... Your spirit lives on still... Dear Friend, we'll be together again... Until that day.... Until.................... In loving memory of Carolyn Kouk. By: Brandilee Gushulak Slocombe - Posted by: brandilee gushulak slocombe (Friend) on: Oct 30, 2007
